Currently in its second generation, the Mercedes-Benz GLA is classed as a subcompact luxury crossover SUV.

Production started in late 2013 with customers getting the first delivery of their models in early 2014, Japanese customers had to wait until late 2014.

A rebadged version of the car was available in the USA under the Infiniti brand sold as the QX30, identical in almost every way.

It is essentially the SUV version of the A-Class model - the smallest in the German car marker's lineup.

The platform that the GLA is built on is not only shared with the A-Class but also the slightly larger B-Class and the CLA.

Engine choices for this crossover SUV have been fairly similar across both generations with an AMG performance trim on offer with a 2 litre turbocharged gasoline engine fitted.

The GLA 45 AMG also contains many uprated parts including more advanced suspension and sports steering.

With each update to the car the AMG version gains more power, in the most recent release in the second generation the performance trim pumped out 416bhp through an 8-speed semi-automatic transmission.

Sales haven't been huge for the model seeing around 25,000 units sold per year on average across all trims of the car.
