The Fiat Talento first hit the markets in 2016. The light commercial van was then produced for just four years, until its discontinuation in 2020. During this time, Fiat only released a single generation.

Like many models found within the Stellantis Group, it is simply a rebadged and restyled version of another model. In the case of the Talento, this was the very popular Renault Trafic.

It is likely the success that the Trafic received over the years is what led to Fiat manufacturing a rebadged version.

Due to the two models being almost identical, it shares the same 4-door van layout. It was also capable of seating up to 8 passengers, along with the driver.

Competition for the Fiat Talento typically includes the Toyota ProAce and the Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro.

Fiat offered the model in four trim levels. These consist of the Standard, SX, Tecnico, and Sportivo. The latter two options are essentially the top-tier trims, but offer different styling for customers.

In the beginning, only a single 1.6 L inline-4 diesel engine was offered, but this engine came with four different configurations. Fiat released two single-turbocharged versions and two twin-turbocharged versions to offer customers a variety of options when it comes to power outputs.

This was later replaced with a 2.0 L with three varied power outputs. Like its corporate cousin, there was never a petrol or electric version released.

Transmission options consisted of only a 6-speed manual initially. However, a 6-speed direct-shift automatic gearbox was later released.

The discontinuation of the model came as a result of the formation of Stellantis. At this point, Renault wanted to stop supplying the Talento to Fiat.

In 2020, Mitsubishi released a rebadged version of the Talento called the Express.
