Taking on the quickly growing compact crossover SUV market with a luxury offering is the Lexus NX.

First launched in 2014 the car was put together using the platform from parent company Toyota's RAV4, one of the best selling cars in the USA of recent years.

The NX features the benefits of a car such as low running costs and great handling from being lower weight than an SUV without the downsides of larger running costs and buying price.

Inside is the usual level of comfort and technology you would expect from a Lexus setting it apart from the RAV4 considerably.

Engine choices include a 2 liter (naturally aspirated or turbocharged) or 2.5 liter gasoline with the larger of the 2 has the option of a hybrid system added to capture lost energy during braking.

Production of the Lexus NX takes place in plants based in Japan and India with the cars marketed and sold in Asia, Russia, Europe and North America.

Sales pick up quickly though for the last 5 years or so the car has stagnated at the same level perhaps as it faces more competition in the compact crossover SUV market.
