The Swift is the current supermini offering from Suzuki. The model first hit the market in 2004 and has remained available since then.

There have been a total of three generations to be released in the near-two decades on the market. The latest of these was unveiled in 2017.

The Swift currently sits between the Ignis and Baleno in terms of the Suzuki hatchback range.

Competition for the model typically comes from the likes of the Ford Fiesta, Hyundai i20, and Skoda Fabia.

It has been offered in either a 3-door or 5-door hatchback layout, the former of which was used more for performance variants like the GT.

Trim options varied depending on the region in question, but there were some common ones. These were typically the SZ2, SZ3, and SZ4. There was also a Swift Sport version for each generation, which first made its debut in 2007.

A hybrid concept of the Swift, was unveiled in 2009. This version was meant to begin production in 2013. However, it only really came about with the release of the third generation in 2017.

A wide array of engines were used for the Swift, particularly in the latest generation. This version is fitted with petrol, MHEV, and diesel powertrains.

Petrol options range from a 998 cc inline-3 through to a 1.4 L inline-4. Both of which are turbocharged. MHEV versions ranged similarly but were coupled with a DC synchronous ISG. a single turbocharged 1.2 L diesel was offered as well.

These various engines were typically fitted with a 5-speed manual, 5-speed automated manual transmission, 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes or a continuously variable transmission.
