The Volvo V90 first made its debut in 2016, entering the market as an update to the Swedish manufacturer’s previous estate model under the V70 nameplate.

It was also released alongside the S90, the sedan variant of the mid-size luxury car.

During its time on the market, there has only been a single generation to be released. However, it did receive a facelift at the beginning of 2020.

The V90 was clearly set to compete with the other luxury mid-size passenger vehicles. The most notable of these are vehicles like the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, and Mercedes E-Class. Of course, it is the station wagon version that the V90 competes with.

Volvo also released the crossover version, called the V90 Cross Country. This shortly became the only version of the estate car available.

This version was fitted with various rugged, black trim features, as well as given a higher ride height.

However, it was announced that the model would be discontinued entirely in 2023.

Trim levels for the V90 are based on the engine selection. This means that there are four trims, consisting of a T5 Inscription, T5 R-Design, T6 Inscription, and T6 R-Design.

There was also a special edition version, called the V90 Cross Country Ocean Race, which was released in 2017.

The V90 comes with only the option of a turbocharged 2.0 inline-4 engine in both diesel and petrol variants. There is also a plug-in hybrid version that includes a 64 kW electric motor.

These were mated with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission.
