The CT first hit the markets in 2011. Lexus went on to manufacture the hybrid electric hatchback for the next 11 years, eventually discontinuing it completely in 2022.

During this time, only a single generation of the model was released, but it did receive modest facelifts in both 2014 and then again in 2017. Interestingly, this was the last model year until its discontinuation.

The model was given the name CT, which stands for “Creative Touring.” However, this was changed to “Compact Touring” in some regions.

Hybrid cars were not as common a decade ago as they are now, which meant that the model did not have a huge amount of competition in its day. However, there were some models that it was compared to fairly often. These included the Alfa Romeo Giuletta, Audi A3, and BMW 1 Series.

Unlike most other Lexus offerings, the model was only offered in a single grade, which was the 200h. This was because only a single-engine option was given for the hybrid.

In addition to its single grade, it was offered in a base form, as well as the high-performance F Sport variant.

The only powertrain option was a petrol hybrid one. This consisted of a 1.8 L inline-4 engine at its foundation, which was coupled with a 60 kW AC synchronous motor. This was mated with a continuously variable transmission.

Lexus announced that the model would be succeeded by the Lexus UX, which was released in 2018. This meant that there was some overlap between the two models until the CT was discontinued everywhere.
