The Buick LaCrosse is the company's flagship vehicle seeing fantastic sales globally, especially in China.

As of 2019, the LaCrosse has been discontinued in the North American region due to dwindling sales though the car is still built and sold in the Chinese region.

Originally the car was brought in to replace the Century and Regal lines serving the lucrative mid-size car segment.

First-generation examples of the car sported larger displacement engines ranging from a 3.6 liter V6 through to a 5.3 liter V8.

When Buick wanted to penetrate the Chinese market with the car 2 years later they added some smaller displacement options.

In 2010 the car was pushed into its second generation and engines were tailored towards the Chinese buyers who were buying twice as many Regals as Americans.

Then in 2017 a lot of emphases was put on the smaller displacement turbocharged engines that Chinese car buyers prefer including a 1500cc option.

Buick did not replace this model in North America as it was clear that car buyers there are demanding crossover SUVs heavily, such as the Enclave and the Envision.
