The Trailblazer, not to be confused with the old Chevy TrailBlazer, was first released in 2020. One of the only discernible ways to tell the two models apart are the lower-case or upper-case ‘B’ in their names.

The model was actually unveiled a year before its release. It debuted at the 18th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition and the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2019.

This new subcompact crossover currently sits between the Chevy Trax and Equinox in terms of the American carmaker’s SUV lineup.

Competition in the heavily packed subcompact crossover class means that the Trailblazer has gone up against some very notable rivals. It is most often compared to the Hyundai Kona, Kia Soul, Mazda CX-30, and the Volkswagen Taos.

Trim levels for the new Trailblazer start with the base L, followed by LS, and LT. There are also ACTIV and RS packages available for the model.

The first three of these comprise the standard trim packages, while the ACTIV and RS are more off-road and sports-focused trims.

Engine options are limited to only petrol powertrains, both of which are fairly small for an SUV. These two options consist of either a 1.2 L LIH inline-3 or a 1.3 L L3H inline-3. Both of these engines are turbocharged.

Chevy has not announced any plans to release a hybrid or diesel powertrain for the Trailblazer.

Transmissions are limited to either a 9-speed automatic or a continuously variable transmission. These are linked to the drivetrain selected, with the automatic being reserved for AWD models and the CVT used for FWD versions.
