The Ford F-450 was first released under the F-Series’ Super Duty Range in 1999, along with its smaller sibling, the F-350.

Since its initial release, there have been a total of four generations released. The latest version was unveiled in 2017.

Ford has also announced that the fifth generation will make its debut in 2023.

As its name suggests, it represents one of the larger models found within the F-Series. Interestingly, it is the largest actual pickup truck sold by Ford, as the larger models like the F-600 are sold exclusively as chassis cabs.

Similar to its stablemates, it features the typical pickup truck configurations like the 2-door regular cab, 2-door Super Cab, and 4-door Crew Cab.

Other additional configuration options include two varied box lengths, as well as single and dual rear-wheel drivetrains. This has given customers a huge deal of flexibility when configuring their truck.

Since 2008, models have exclusively featured four-wheel drive systems.

The F-Series has a fairly well-known rivalry with two other American pickups. These rivals are the Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD and RAM 4500HD.

The latest versions feature the typical trim options offered in the F-Series. These consist of the base XL, followed by the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Unlike some other models, Ford has not yet released a high-performance Raptor or Tremor version.

As with the rest of the F-Series, there have been multiple large engines found in the F-450. The most recent models provide either a 7.3 L V8 or a 6.7 L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel. These have been mated with a TorqShift 10-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission.

Older models also featured both large petrol and diesel engines.
