This offering from Honda goes back to 1995 but competes now in a huge pool of crossover SUV models from a slew of automakers around the world.

The CR-V was always Honda’s main thrust into the mid-level SUV market, offering affordability and interior space while also being small enough to be practical in a big city.

Since 2017, it has been manufactured at the Greensburg plant in Indiana, where now its fifth generation is being made in a much fiercer market environment than back in the 1990s.

The CR-V is now also offered as a regular hybrid and a PHEV, with engines on all models ranging from 1.5L in the petrol category, to 2.0L in both hybrid categories, and a 1.6L diesel option, too, for those who love the extra torque.

The newest generations all come with automatic transmissions.

This model sites underneath the Pilot SUV also from Honda which is slightly larger than this car and is classed as "mid-sized".

Like with other Honda models, you get treated to the Honda Sensing safety package, which throws in adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking and lane-keeping assist features.

It even got a refreshed design in 2019 to add a bit of new edge and sheen to the model in the face of new design trends leaning towards a more angular, straight-edged look as opposed to the softer, more curved and rounded designs.

Both the NHTSA and Euro NCAP rate the Honda CR-V very highly for safety, and growing sales almost every year running up to 2019 is a testament to the machine’s quality.
