Have you ever heard people call this car the Fairlady? Well, that’s what it’s called in its homeland of Japan, as it happens.

The Nissan 370Z sports car (coupe and roadster) has a production history going back to 2008.

It started as a very popular model back in 2009 with some 13,000 or more models being sold, far outstripping either Canada or the European markets with only 567 and 1,032 sales respectively.

Over the years, the car has dwindled in sales but retains a kind of cult following. One of the things that have set the initial release model and the 2012 updated version apart has been all the special editions that have emerged over the years.

First, there was the NISMO 370Z back in 2009, which continues production today, and then there was the Yellow in 2009, the Nürburgring edition, a 40th Anniversary Edition, Black Edition and more.

In the 2013 model year, we got an updated version of the 370Z, with new 18” alloys, new body colors, a sports package, and a host of extra goodies in the NISMO version.

The North American updated version (2013 model year) ran on a 3.7L V6 gasoline engine delivering some 332hp and 269lb-ft of torque.

Drivers have a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic.

The 370Z actually represents the sixth generation in a longer line --- the Z line --- and succeeds the 350Z It will be the last one to have the naturally aspirated V6 with a manual transmission. Change is coming.
