The Q70 first came to the various automobile markets in 2013. The mid-size executive manufactured by Nissan’s luxury sub-brand, Infiniti, then saw only a single generation to be released. It was later discontinued in 2019.
As its name suggests, the Q70 was the largest sedan offering in the Infiniti lineup, sitting above both the Q30 and Q50.
Unlike these other models, the Q70 was offered in a single trim level as a testament to its luxury status. The only trim level offered was the premier Luxe. This meant that the only choices customers could make came to powertrain options. The model was also sold with either RWD or AWD drivetrains.
Infiniti typically aims to go up against the biggest names in luxury cars, and the Q70 is no different. The model was set to compete with the likes of the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Powertrain options included both various petrol and diesel engines, although the latter category was limited to just two.
Petrol engines ranged from the smallest 2.0 L inline-4 and went up to a very large 5.6 L V8 found in high-performance variants. The diesel options consisted of either a turbocharged 2.2 L inline-4 or a 3.0 L V6.
A hybrid version was also released in 2014.
Like most modern sedans, the Japanese carmaker announced that the model would be discontinued in 2019 as the direct result of customers favoring crossovers and SUVs more and more in recent years.
This is particularly true of the North American market, which was one of the best markets for the Q70 in terms of sales.
