To replace the Datsun 210 at the start of the 1980's Nissan introduced the Sentra model, starting life as a boxy saloon.
Original production took place in Japan with models being shipped to North America but as it showed good demand assembly plants opened in the USA and Mexico.
Its use of front-wheel drive from an engine in the front of the car helped keep the weight down and so fuel efficiency was impressive.
