The Peugeot 207 first entered the market in 2006 as the successor to the 206.

Of course, in line with Peugeot’s naming convention, only a single generation of the model was released before the 208 was debuted. However, it did receive a facelift in 2009.

The model did receive mixed reviews initially, but went on to become the third best-selling car in the supermini class in the United Kingdom.

The 207 was sold in a number of body styles. The most notable was, of course, the 3-door and 5-door hatchback variants, but there was also the coupe cabriolet (CC) and the station wagon (SW).

There were also various trim options for the different models. These did change depending on the region the model was sold. Some of the most notable include the GT and GTI variants, both of which were high-performance variants.

Peugeot also released a limited run called the Le Mans Special Edition. This version was given updated sport styling, sports decals, as well as a rear spoiler.

Competition from other supermini models include the Renault Clio, SEAT Ibiza, Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, and Ford Fiesta. These models’ high-performance versions also competed with the GT and GTI versions of the 207.

Engine options consisted of a series of 1.4 L inline-4 and 1.6 L inline-4 petrols. These engines were then updated in 2006. The diesel variants consisted of the same engine sizes but were limited to only a one power rating for each sized engine.

Peugeot fitted these powertrains with either a 5-speed or 6-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

As mentioned, the 207 was discontinued with the release of the 208 in 2014.
