The Tipo first made its debut in 2015. Of course, only a single generation of the model has been released since.
Despite having only a single generation, there have been a multitude of body styles under the name. These include the more common 4-door sedan, as well as the various 5-door variants. These include a hatchback, cross hatchback, station wagon, and cross station wagon.
The model also received a facelift in 2021 to introduce a new engine, as well as updates to security and onboard technology. This is also when the various cross-versions were introduced.
Upon its release, it received some high praise. It even managed to win the 2016 Best Buy Car of Europe Award.
The Tipo was intended to compete with very stiff competition like the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf. Another notable rival comes from the Opel/Vauxhall Astra.
The various trim levels change depending on the region the model is sold in. These typically consist of the base, City Life, City Sport, Easy, Easy Plus, Elite, LIfe, Lounge, Lounge More, Mirror, Mirror More, S Design, S Design MOre, Sport, Sport More, and finally Street.
These various trims have been coupled with a number of engine options, including petrol, diesel, and hybrid.
Petrol engines range from a 1.0 L inline-3 through to a 1.5 L inline-4. Diesel versions range from a 1.3 L inline-4 to a 1.6 L inline-4. The hybrid version is based on the 1.5 L inline-4.
Fiat coupled these engines with a variety of transmissions. These include both a 5-speed and 6-speed manual, a 6-speed dual-clutch, and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
