Built on the same platform as the A-Class and B-Class, the Mercedes-Benz CLA is classed as a compact fastback-coupe.
The car was introduced in 2013 with sales beginning for the 2014 model year as a successor to the CLC line that had been discontinued recently.
Available as a 4 door sedan or a 5 door shooting-brake-style station wagon the car has gone through 2 generations of design so far.
Original engine choices for the CLA on release ranged from a modest 1.5 liter turbodiesel through to a sporty 2.1 liter turbocharged gasoline for the CLA 45 AMG version.
With the introduction of the second generation in 2019, the AMG was treated to an upgrade seeing almost 50bhp added to its performance.
A turbocharged smaller displacement engine for Chinese customers was also added to the order sheet to help the car sell better in that region.
In the dashboard, the infotainment center was upgraded to include voice controls and an all-digital instrument cluster was added.
Safety ratings for both generations of the Mercedes Benz CLA have been phenomenal scoring 5 out 5 stars with the Euro NCAP agency.
