Crossover SUVs such as the Nissan Murano are continuing to climb in popularity as buyers learn of their benefits over regular cars and non-crossover SUVs.
These crossover's benefit from the same spacey interiors but with lower running costs thanks to the removal of the heavy off-road capable components in the chassis.
A convertible version of the Murano was sold between 2011 and 2014 and marketed as the CrossCabriolet with 2+2 seating inside.
Nissan only had this crossover SUV on sale in North America until the release of the Rogue in 2008 which sold much better than this model and stole some of the sales away.
Sales did recover in recent years though and now continue to push the previous records set before the release of the Rogue.
Across the three generations of the Murano, buyers have been able to choose from one of two engines: a 2.5 litre or a 3.5 litre V6.
Mated to those engines have been a 6-speed automatic transmission or a CVT in the original first-generation model.
Buyers could stick with the standard front-wheel-drive chassis on offer with the car or opt for a slightly heavier platform with four-wheel-drive equipment fitted.
Throughout its life, the Murano has shared its platform with several other Nissan models including the Altima and Maxima.
