The Quest minivan first made its debut in 1992. It then remained on the market for just over two decades, until it was discontinued in 2016.
During its stay on the market, a total of four generations were released. The final of these made its debut in 2011.
It was also sold as the Mercury Villager for a time. Although not a direct successor, the Nissan Elgrand became the default minivan offering from the Japanese carmaker with the discontinuation of the Quest.
Each generation of the 5-door minivan was built on a different platform. The Quest was built on the Nissan D platform for its final generation.
Competition typically comes from other 7-seater passenger vans. The most notable of these include the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, and Chrysler Town & Country.
Trims consisted of just four options. These are the base S, followed by the SV, SL and Platinum. These did change depending on the region in question.
Powertrains have typically been limited to only a single option. This is a 3.5 L V6 petrol engine. No diesel option was ever produced for the Nissan Quest.
Gearboxes have consisted of 4-speed and 5-speed automatics for many years. However, the final generation featured only a CVT.
Its discontinuation came about due to heavily declining sales of minivans both globally and in North America. This also allowed Nissan to focus more on crossovers like the X-Trail and Qashqai.
The model also faced criticism for suffering a very poor crash test rating in 2014, which likely added to Nissan’s decision to discontinue it.
