The Getz first made its debut in 2002, mainly for the South Korean market. However, at this point it was still called the Hyundai Click.

The release under its more common name came two years later with the introduction of the model to the Indian market in 2004.

During its time on the market, only a single generation was sold. This did receive a facelift in 2005 though.

The model typically went up against the likes of the Suzuki Swift, Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris, and the Honda Jazz. Of course, the 3-door or 5-door versions of each of these hatchbacks competed with one another.

Trim levels changed depending on the region that the model was sold. However, the most common of these were the GSI, CDX, and Sport.

Engines ranged widely as well. While most of these were petrol offerings, there were two diesel engines available.

Petrol engines ranged from a 1.1. L inline-4 through to a 1.6 L inline-4, while diesel offerings consisted of a 1.5 L inline-3 and a 1.5 L inline-4.

These were mated with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Click was discontinued in 2011, while the Getz was discontinued in 2009. Interestingly, Hyundai released the successor to the model a year before its retirement. This meant that the Hyundai i20, which was released in 2008, shared a year on the market with the model.

Despite being discontinued, the model did receive fairly wide praise shortly after its release. This is likely why it was continued with the i120.
