Competing in the subcompact crossover SUV category of cars against the likes of the Nissan Juke is the Honda HR-V.

First introduced way back in 1998 as a much slimmer model with incredible ground clearance it is a lot different than the model on the roads currently.

After the first generation of HR-V was retired in 2006 the line was paused from selling but in 2013 the car came back with a design that matched the Nissan Juke, wider and flatter.

The crossover SUV market no longer prioritises off-road capability so the ground clearance was reduced on the car in favour of more interior room.

Underneath the car, the chassis was simplified to reduce the weight and allow for improved safety and comfort features to take its place - a higher priority for modern car buyers.

Engine choices were also expanded from the first generation which only offered a 1.6 liter gasoline variant, now buyers could opt for a 1.8 or 1.5 liter engine with an optional turbocharger.

A new edition to the order sheet included a diesel engine and even hybrid technology to compete with the rest of the SUV range from the company and competition.

Sales have remained strong for the model and appear to be slightly climbing as the company push it within emerging markets.
